  What's New!

  • Operational processing of C6 MODIS LST product suite that was on hold since Feb 18, 2019 due to some production related issue, have resumed. These data is expected to be available to users soon through LP-DAAC and LAADS.
  • C6.1 reprocessing of L1B and atmosphere products is in progress. This reprocessing addresses issues in the calibration of L1B data, mainly RVS correction to bands 1 - 4 of Aqua MODIS and cross talk in thermal bands 27 - 30 of Terra MODIS. C61 reprocessing of Land products is expected to start in May 2018.
  • Annual MOD17A3H/MYD17A3H and MOD16A3H/MYD16A3H from the operational C6 processing has been discontinued because of irregular retrieval issues and users are advised not to use this data, even if they had downloaded this data earlier from LP-DAAC. Instead, MODAPS will introduce better gap-filled year end M*D16A3GF and M*D17A3GF products soon as part of collection 6 products. For immediate use, the users are advised to use the Annual MOD16/MOD17 products from NTSG:
  • C5/C5.1 forward Processing stream at MODAPS and NRT has been discontinued. Last data day processed is March 30, 2017.
  • C6 reprocessing of all Block1 products (C5 products) is complete. Processing of block2 products (New in C6) is in progress and is expected to finish in Summer 2017. C6 land products are available to public from DAACs.
  • DAACs, with recommendation from MODIS Land science team will start decommissioning the C5 land products in Fall 2017.
  • Land data products are now available to public from LAADS.
  • C6 MxD21verified to overestimate LST, hence should not be used in research or any application

Quality assessment (QA) is an integral part of the MODIS Land production chain. The objective of MODLAND QA is to evaluate and document the scientific quality of the MODLAND products with respect to their intended performance. The results of MODLAND QA are made available on a routine basis and are formally stored as product metadata and as per-pixel information. MODLAND QA results are also placed on the Product Quality web pages located at this site. Users are encouraged to check these QA results when they order and use individual products to ensure that they were generated without error or artifacts.
